About Us

Beginnings – The precursor to GetAbout was formed​ in 1980 by civic-minded New Canaan residents as “The Friendship Express,” to provide transportation for the elderly and handicapped.  In February 1982, the organization became the “GetAbout.”

Community Service – The GetAbout…..​

• provides more than 10,000 rides annually.

• has a fleet of seven specially equipped vans to carry wheelchair confined passengers and their aids to activities within New Canaan and to medical appointments in New Canaan and surrounding communities.

• provides drivers with Public Passenger licenses, experienced in providing safe, on-time rides.

• serves New Canaan residents 18 years or older who are unable to drive

Staff Excellence – The GetAbout team of professional drivers all have Public Passenger driver’s licenses and are trained in providing for the ambulatory needs of all our riders.
